What is the best UFC betting site?
The best UFC betting site in Canada is Bodog as it offers excellent odds on all UFC events, allows you to live bet the UFC, and has a variety of bet types to choose from, including parlays.
How does UFC betting work?
UFC betting is fairly simple to understand. In short, you can bet on the winner of a fight, how long the fight will last (over/under rounds), and other specific bets such as the exact outcome – by KO/TKO, draw, etc. The simplest bet you can make is selecting a winner of the fight no matter the method of victory.
Is betting on UFC profitable?
Profitability in UFC betting is different for every sports bettor. It will depend on how much you are risking each bet, what bet types you are selecting, how much research you’ve done, and much more. In short, it’s possible to make money betting on the UFC but it’s best to read betting guides such as ours to learn how to bet on the UFC and get expert tips.
What is round betting in UFC?
Round betting in UFC is when you decide to bet on the fighting ending before or after the round number provided by sportsbooks and oddsmakers. For example, if the over/under round for a fight is 2.5 and you bet the over, then to win, the fight must last at least 2.5 rounds. If you bet the under, it must end before 2.5 rounds.

Is UFC Betting Legal in Canada?
UFC betting at retail sportsbooks is fully legal across every province in Canada. However, many provinces do not have retail sportsbook locations for bettors to visit, thus, many sports bettors in Canada need to bet on the UFC online.
Online sports betting in Canada is available only officially legal in one province. The only province in Canada to fully legalize online UFC betting, and online sports betting in general, is the province of Ontario. In other words, Ontario is awarding government licenses to sportsbooks to legally operate within the province.
That said, there are legally accessible offshore sportsbook options available that do not need to go through the provinces to operate as they are headquartered offshore and accredited via local governments.
Other than Ontario, there are no other provinces with official rules and regulations in place to allow for sportsbooks to officially operate. However, there are no laws against it either. This has created a grey area in Canada where many offshore sportsbooks operate in.
Furthermore, Canadians used to only be able to place parlay bets. However, things changed in 2021 when single-game wagering was made fully legal in Canada. This allows Canadians to bet on sports and not have to bet on parlays, rather, they can now bet on individual games. Single-gam wagering is offered at both legal and offshore sportsbooks.
At offshore sportsbooks, there are no restrictions pertaining to single-game wagering or parlays. Customers are able to freely bet any wager type available on the sportsbook.
Are Offshore UFC Betting Sites Legal?
Simply put, offshore betting sites are legal as they do not base their operations inside Canada’s borders. Instead, offshore sportsbooks go through licensing requirements in the country they are based in and offer their site to customers around the world, including customers in Canada and the United States.
Canadian sports bettors can sign up directly at any offshore betting site without having to worry about any legal ramifications. It’s a simple process that takes less than 10 minutes. Additionally, offshore sports accept local fiat currency, which makes getting started extremely convenient.
Advantages of Offshore UFC Betting Sites
Unlike regulated betting sites, offshore betting sites do not have to go through Canadian licensing. In addition to this, there are several other advantageous. Below, we list some of the top reasons why you should consider offshore UFC betting sites.
Available in more provinces. As mentioned above, because offshore sportsbooks are licensed in other countries they can make their site available to every resident of Canada and not just residents of provinces with legal Canadian-based online sportsbooks.
Higher sportsbook bonuses. Offshore betting sites are known for strong welcome promotions that vary depending on the deposit method of your choice. For example, cryptocurrency sportsbook bonuses tend to be very high at offshore betting sites.
Better UFC odds. Offshore betting sites are oftentimes more aggressive with both their bonus offerings and odds in order to be more customer-friendly. As such, you will tend to find better odds on UFC matches at offshore books relative to Canadian-based sportsbooks.
More markets available. Another reason why offshore betting sites are better is that they focus on providing more betting variety. You will find tons of prop bets and alternative lines for UFC matches.
Strong customer service. Most, if not all, offshore betting sites have customer support options available 24/7 or at the very least respond within one day. Many sportsbooks have live chat options and overall tend to deliver a better customer support experience.
Our Criteria for Choosing a Top UFC Betting Site
Our team of experts has spent countless hours researching and ranking the top UFC betting sites across all of Canada. And below you can see a few of the most important factors our team considered when ranking each of the best UFC betting sites.
Range of UFC Bets
Arguably the most important ranking factor is the range of UFC bet types available. Rather than just looking for the standard betting lines, our team also looked at which sportsbooks offered different bet types and offered variety to their customers.
Choice of UFC Events
Our team also made sure that each sportsbook offered a variety of different UFC events to bet on, including Dana White’s Contender Series, UFC Fight Night, and PPV events. We value sportsbooks that offer odds for all major UFC events and do not omit any.
Bonus & Promotions
Offering bonuses and promotions to new and existing customers is another key factor that our team considered when determining the rankings for the top UFC betting sites. In addition to the amount, we were looking at their terms and conditions and if there were other bonus types available outside of just new player welcome bonuses.
Safety & Security
A critical factor in our ranking system is safety and security. Each of the top UFC sportsbooks we reviewed must demonstrate that they are trustworthy and in good public standing. In addition, they must have SSL encryption, which protects transactions.
Payment Methods
We also considered the banking and payment methods at each betting site. The more payment options the better, but in general, each of the top UFC betting sites offers the same options, which include credit and debit cards, Skrill, Neteller, and more.
Customer Support
Last but certainly not least is customer support. Our team made sure to vet each sportsbook’s customer support options to ensure customers can receive quality support via a variety of communication methods. Additionally, we also reviewed each FAQ section to see what type of self-service support and information is available.
How to Sign Up and Bet on UFC
Are you interested in signing up at one of our top online sportsbooks and betting on the UFC? You’re in luck as we put together a simple step-by-step process, using Bodog as an example, that you can follow to start betting on the UFC today. Please note, that Bodog is an offshore betting site but is still accessible in Canada.
1. Register an Account at Bodog
First, you’ll need to visit Bodog on your desktop, or mobile web browser, or download their app. Upon doing so, click “Join” to begin the registration process.
2. Enter Your Personal Information
Next, you will need to enter basic personal information in order to successfully create your account. Once you are finished, hit submit and you will officially have a Bodog account.
3. Deposit Funds
In order to start betting on the UFC, you will need to add funds to your sportsbook account. To do so, head to the cashier and select the deposit method that works for you. Here is where you will want to remember to use any promo codes you may have for Bodog.
4. Choose Your Bet
Now that you have an account and funds have been added to your account you should be able to visit the sportsbook and select a bet that you are interested in. Once you’ve found it, add it to your betslip.
5. Confirm Your Bet
In your betslip make sure you confirm the amount you wish to wager then submit it to the sportsbook. You will receive confirmation and then all you have to do is wait until the bet is graded. If you win, your winnings and your original bet amount will be deposited into your account automatically.
How UFC Betting Works
UFC betting isn’t too complicated to understand and betting on the UFC is very similar to other forms of sports betting. Essentially, you are provided two main bet types: the winner of the fight and how long the fight will last. There are other forms of UFC betting but these are the main options found across all major sportsbooks.
If you bet on the winner of the fight your fighter must win the match in order for you to win your bet. They can win by knockout, technical knockout, submission, disqualification, or by decision. If the match ends in a draw you will not win your bet.
To win the over/under round bet in the UFC you must successfully select the length of the fight relative to the round offered by the sportsbook. For example, if the over/under number of rounds is set at 1.5 rounds and you bet the over, to win your bet, the fight must exceed 1.5 rounds. If you bet the under, the fight must end before 1.5 rounds.
In Canada, UFC betting odds will most likely be displayed via decimal odds. For example, if a fighter’s odds to win are set at 1.5 and you wager $50, then your potential winnings would be $75, or $50 x 1.5. Of this $25 is profit and $50 is your original bet amount.
Single-Game UFC Betting Explained
Single-game betting was just ruled officially legal in Canada in 2021 so it is relatively new to sports bettors. Before this new law, Canadian sports bettors could only bet on parlays.
Single-game betting allows sports bettors to choose one game, or fight for the UFC, and bet on it. Whereas previously, bettors had to choose multiple flights for a parlay or multiple outcomes within a fight – such as a winner and over/under.
In UFC betting, single-game betting refers to one bet within one match such as who will win the fight, what the over/under rounds will be, and/or who will win and by what method.
This new law in Canada is beneficial to sports bettors and sports bettors in Canada as it allows for more betting flexibility and options.
Popular Types of UFC Betting Markets
Below we highlight a few of the most popular bet types for UFC betting and how they work.
Moneyline Bets
A moneyline bet in the UFC is when you are choosing to bet on the winner of the fight regardless of how they win. It’s arguably the most straight-forward MMA bet there is and it’s very simple to understand. Below is a quick example of how moneyline odds may appear at a sportsbook for a UFC fight.
Fighter
Odds
Jon Jones
2.50
Daniel Cormier
1.55
Total Rounds Betting
Along with the moneyline bet, the total rounds bet is another popular UFC bet type widely available across all sportsbooks. Here, the oddsmakers provide a round cut-off and allow you to either bet that the fight will exceed the round or end before the round and odds will be adjusted accordingly. Note that half rounds are included and because UFC rounds are 5 minutes, a half of a round is at the 2 minute and 30 second mark.
Total Rounds
Odds
Over 2.5 rounds
1.45
Under 2.5 rounds
1.45
Prop Bets
Prop bets are a fun and engaging bet type that is oftentimes more lucrative because they require exact outcomes to happen. You will find prop bets in the more bets section of any given fight. A few examples of UFC prop bets include who will win the fight and how they will win, will the fight go the distance (yes or no), what is the exact round the fight will end, etc. Below is an example.
UFC Prop Bet
Odds
Conor McGregor to win by KO
1.50
Conor McGregor to win by Submission
3.80
Parlays
Parlay bets are when you have several wagers in one betslip and all of them must win in order for you to win your parlay bet. Because they involve multiple bets on one ticket the odds are oftentimes higher but the higher the odds the less likely you will win. Here’s an example of a UFC parlay.
Conor McGregor to beat Tony Ferguson at 2.80
Jon Jones to bet Daniel Cormier at 1.50
Charles Oliveira to beat Michael Chandler at 2.05
If all of these bets were on your parlay ticket you would need to win all of them. Furthermore, if you combine all of them your odds will increase to 8.61, which is an indication that you could win a lot more but it’s less likely to occur.
Live UFC Betting
Live UFC betting is a fun way to enjoy the fights live and also take advantage of up-to-date betting odds. Sportsbooks will only provide live moneyline odds on UFC fights and will not offer anything else. Partly because it’s very difficult to create live odds for additional bet types.
If you wish to live bet on the UFC, you will need to head to the live betting section at your sportsbook of choice and monitor the updated odds in between rounds when the action is paused. You can place a live bet just like a normal sports bet.
UFC Betting Strategies & Systems
There are many different approaches to betting on the UFC. Below, we’ve outlined three of the most popular MMA betting strategies and systems.
1. Bet the Favourites
It’s true the favourites cannot win every time but in the UFC favourites win nearly 65% of the time, which is a fairly high success rate for fighting (and betting). You could make a reasonable profit backing favourites, especially fighters that are heavily favoured.
2. Bet Against Public Underdogs
Another great strategy to follow is betting against the public when they support or bet a massive underdog. When the betting public chooses to back a side strongly sportsbooks will often adjust the odds for the other fighter in order to limit their losses. Follow how moneylines trend over time to find public-backed fighters and take advantage of line movements.
3. Be Smart With Your Funds
If you are going to sports bet then you must accept that losing is part of it. And with that, don’t be tempted to bet big to try and recoup losses and more importantly only bet what you are willing to lose. If you bet within your means then you will have way more fun and if and when you do lose it won’t be too disappointing.
Our Top 5 Tips for Betting on UFC
In order to be a successful UFC bettor, you should do your due diligence and try your hardest to research, evaluate, and understand every little detail. Below, are our top tips to help you get started on your quest to be a winning UFC bettor.
1. Shop Around
One great thing about online sportsbooks is that they are convenient and generally easy to navigate. As such, you can easily shop around for the best UFC odds to see which sportsbooks are offering the best prices. By doing so, you will increase your potential profits by selecting the best odds.
2. Monitor Line Movement
It’s important to understand how, when, and why UFC betting lines are changing. They may be moving because of public betting trends, weight issues, or injuries. Be sure to look at how the betting line has trended since being posted and try to research why. By doing so, you will have a leg up on a public bettor who lacks this knowledge.
3. Do Your Research
Before every UFC event you wish to bet on you should research each matchup to better understand each fighter’s strengths and weaknesses. Look at previous fights, their coaching, what they are good at, what they need to improve on, and more. You should be able to articulate why a fighter will win with substance.
4. Don’t Always Bet Fan Favorites
When sports betting, you should always try to avoid betting with your heart. Trust your research and try to avoid betting on someone because you are a fan or want them to win. Of course, there will be exceptions but just make sure you are objective with your approach to betting.
5. Avoid Draw Bets
Odds for draws in the UFC are typically very high – usually around 25.0 or higher. This is enticing but the reality is that draws in the UFC rarely happen. Do not bet real money on the draw or if you do be prepared to lose the bet amount.
Biggest UFC Events to Bet on
Typically the UFC has events televised just about every weekend or week. Below we highlight the main UFC events you can bet on at Canadian betting sites.
UFC Pay-Per-Views
Approximately once a month the UFC will schedule a pay-per-view (PPV) fight which is exclusively available on ESPN+. Nine times out of 10, these events will include at least one title fight and will also include intriguing undercard matchups.
UFC PPVs are the biggest events of the month and attract many viewers and much interest. As such, betting on these events is fun and there will surely be several bet types to choose from. Additionally, lines will likely be competitive as they usually feature the best of the best fighting each other, which could mean no matter what side you are on you likely have a good chance of winning your bet.
UFC Fight Nights
Outside of UFC PPVs, there are UFC Fight Nights. These are events that are not behind a pay-per-view paywall and will not feature any title bouts. Instead, they typically feature 1-3 top-tier matchups and various undercard matchups.
Even though they are not as big as PPVs, Fight Nights are still entertaining and sportsbooks will offer the same exact bet types as PPV bouts.
Dana White’s Contender Series
Dana White’s Contender Series is a reality TV style show that features upcoming fighters trying to fight their way into the UFC. These fights may not feature the best of the best but some of the UFC’s best fighters have emerged from this series and sportsbooks will certainly allow you to bet on the fights.
Bonuses for UFC Betting Online
Nowadays most sportsbooks will offer some sort of bonuses and promotions program to attract new customers. And so, there are several different bonuses offered, and below we’ve summarized a few of the main ones you will likely encounter.
Match Deposit Sign Up Bonuses
A match deposit sign up bonus is when a sportsbook will add an extra percentage to your original deposit amount. For instance, if you deposit $100 and the sportsbook is offering a 200% match, you will receive an extra.
No Deposit Bonus
A no deposit bonus is when a sportsbook will allow you to place a bet without having to deposit any funds of your own. These bonuses are entirely risk-free but typically they do not come in large amounts and/or have a cap on the winnings potential.
Free Bets
Free bets are typically given to existing customers who recently lost a bet. It’s exactly what it sounds like, a sportsbook will give you a free bet but in return, if you win you will need to satisfy rollover requirements before cashing out your winnings.
Bitcoin & Crypto Bonuses
Crypto bonuses are bonuses available to customers who choose to deposit using cryptocurrency as opposed to fiat currency. Sportsbooks prefer cryptocurrency and as such, they typically offer really great bonuses to entice customers to use crypto.
Reload Bonuses
A reload bonus is another bonus that is offered to existing customers. Traditionally, it is another form of a deposit match bonus where sportsbooks will give you an added percentage of your deposit. Reload bonuses are more often than not smaller than new player deposit match bonuses.
Risk-Free Bets
Risk-free bets are bets that carry zero risk. In other words, you will bet using your money and if you win you will receive the profits and if you lose you will be given a free bet so that you can continue to bet again. The one callout is that you will need to wager your own money first.
The Best Payment Methods for UFC Betting
Below is a breakdown of the most popular payment methods available at Canadian sportsbooks offering MMA betting lines.
Crypto Betting Options
As mentioned earlier in this guide, sportsbooks will oftentimes favor cryptocurrency as it is more efficient relative to fiat currency. As such, you will find crypto payment options at most Canadian sportsbooks, including of course Bitcoin. Furthermore, cryptocurrency usually has lower fees relative to payment methods such as credit cards. Explore more in our crypto betting guide.
eWallet Betting Options
Another popular payment method offered at Canadian sportsbooks is eWallets. eWallet examples include PayPal, Skrill, and Neteller to name a few. They offer an extra layer of security as you never have to use your actual bank account.
Traditional Payment Methods
And finally, you will of course find traditional payment methods such as bank transfers, debit cards, and credit cards at Canadian sportsbooks. However, depending on the card, these transfers may include a small fee. Nevertheless, it’s a convenient way to load up your sportsbook account.
UFC Apps & Mobile Betting
If you prefer to sports bet using a mobile device then you are in luck as Canadian sportsbooks such as Bodog offer UFC betting via a mobile app. You will receive the same odds as a desktop user and sportsbooks will even adjust their sportsbook page so that it is easy to navigate using your mobile device.
To access mobile UFC betting, visit your app store or if the sportsbook doesn’t have an app yet you can use a mobile web browser on any phone or tablet.

For example, in British Columbia, there are no retail sportsbooks available and in Alberta, there are betting kiosks in places like convenience stores. So, betting in person is always easy.
In short, in-person betting can be difficult and that is why online betting is convenient, quick, and just as effective. Furthermore, online sportsbooks will undoubtedly offer UFC betting lines so you don’t have to travel to bet on the UFC.
